Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Kathmandu/ Transfer to Hotel

Day 2 Sightseeing and familiarization in Kathmandu

Kathmandu Valley is the historical and cultural epicenter of Nepal and well contended for having 7 UNESCO World heritage sites. No visitors can hold themselves from relishing the elegance of the valley. The city offers a wonderful concoction of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in its immediate vicinity. There will be a half-day guided tour to the famous and biggest Hindu shrine Pashupatinath, and the holiest Buddhist sites Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath.

Afterwards you will pack your soft mountain bags, which will be given to you, and leave your excess material in the hotel until you return from your expedition.

Day 3 Fly to Lukla (2,900m) / Trek to Phakding(2,656m)

The flight to Lukla, Solu Khumbu (the main gateway to Mt Everest – 29,035ft) takes about 45 minutes.

In Lukla, you will meet your trek support team, your porters and the yaks.

Once all the large kit bags and equipment have been allocated to porters and yaks, we start walking along the Dhud Khosi Valley close to the river, and slowly meander up and down well-constructed paths through the villages to Phakding, where you will spend night in one of the comfortable local lodges like Star Lodge and Sunrise Lodge.

Day 4 Trek to Namche (3,450m)

After an early call and “bed tea”, coffee or hot chocolate, a bowl of warm washing water will be brought to your room. Once dressed, we recommend you to pack before breakfast so that the porters can get under way as soon as they are ready.

From Phakding, we crisscross the rivers on high suspension bridges to Monjo, which marks the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We then take a steep long trek to Namche Bazaar (11,320ft), the main trading capital in Khumbu. The Sherpa capital has a busy Saturday market – a meeting place for the Hindu traders from the lowlands and the Tibetan yak caravans that have crossed the glaciated Nangpa La Pass.

Day 5 Rest day in Namche (3,450m) – Meet & Brief

Namche is tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu and has an abundance of lodges, tea houses and souvenir shops as well as a magnificent outlook that seems to meet western standards, even at this remote mountain outpost. Well, the experience can be petrifying as you will witness the miniature of whole Himalayan life at its bloom. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day to acclimatize to your newly gained altitude. Options for acclimatization walks include a visit to the Khunde hospital, which was set-up by Sir Edmund Hillary, or an hour walk up for the sunset view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest.

Day 6 Trek to Syangboche (3,810m) / Jump Day

Syangboche Airport is just a 45 minute walk from Namche Bazar. With the unpaved runway length of 400m, it is the highest point to reach by aircraft to Everest. Though not licensed for commercial operations, the airstrip is operated for short take off and landing for chartered flights. The place is proud to be one of the dropping zones for Everest Skydive.

The management staff and crew will meet and brief you, and familiarize you with the equipment and routines that will apply to the drop zone during the parachuting program. The familiarization and briefings will be for both solo and tandem jumpers. Solo jumpers will do familiarization jumps from the PC-6 aircraft or the AS 350 B3 Helicopter.

Day 7 – 10 Jump days

Here we are-all prepared for our Big Day! With Mt. Everest witnessing the whole event, Everest Skydive will take place on these days from the height of 29,500ft if used PC-6, or 23000ft in case of a Helicopter. You will exit with your tandem instructor and aerial cameraman or jumpmaster. The Director of Parachuting Operations will plan the jump days by considering the weather window and safety.

Day 10 Helicopter transfer to Lukla airstrip from where we take a plane to Kathmandu.

Free Day in Kathmandu.

Day 11 Depart Kathmandu

Airport transfer.

>>Extension Trip (Optional) – Seven Days Everest Base Camp Extension

Day 11. Trek to Tengboche [3,864m]

From Syangboche, the trail contours on to the side of the valley, high above Dudh Kosi.  We get our first really good views of the great peaks of Khumbu, including Mt Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. Passing by several villages and numerous tea shops, we descend steeply to a bridge over a river at Phunki Tenga. The village is an ideal stopover for lunch. Here we can rest before making the steep climb to Tengboche. Although the hike up the zigzag path is tiring, it presents us with many rewarding sights of rhododendron bushes with beautiful birds and superb mountain scenery. Tengboche is famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in Khumbu. Here you can enjoy a spectacular panorama of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam rising on the horizon. During the whole trek onwards you will be stationed in the best available lodges/tea houses for meals and accommodation.

Day 12. Trek to Pheriche [4,252m]

We descend downhill through a forest, cross the Imja Khola and climb steadily to the village of Pangboche. This village is directly opposite to Ama Dablam [6,856 m], and has exceptional views of mountains, with the Gompa, Mani walls and scattered pine trees in the foreground. A further two hours walk brings us to Pheriche, where we will stop for the night.

Day 13. Rest day at Pheriche

Day 14. Trek to Lobuche [4,930m]

We continue up the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache on the left. We then take a steep climb towards the foot of the Khumbu Glacier. The tea house at Duglha is a good spot to have lunch. The trail zigzags up through the boulders of the glacier’s terminal moraine. At the top we will see many memorials of the climbers, who died while climbing Mt Everest. The path then ascends gently along the glacier to Lobuche.

Day 15. Trek to Gorak Shep [5,184m], visit Kala Pathar (5,545m)

To reach our next stop, Kala Pathar, we follow the Khumbu Glacier. The trail offers superb views of the surrounding mountains, especially where the path is forced to rise to cross a tributary glacier. We stop for lunch at our camping place, Gorak Shep. Later in the afternoon, we make our way to the top of one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region, Kala Pathar [5,554m]. As the light begins to fade we stroll back to our camp at Gorak Shep and have an early night in preparation for our trek to Everest Base Camp the following day.

Day 16. Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,357m)/Return to Gorakshep

A very early start is required to reach Everest Base Camp. It takes several hours as the trail weaves its way through ice pinnacles and past the bottomless crevasses of the Khumbu Glacier. On the return leg, we can take a higher route to get a spectacular view of the Khumbu icefall and the route to the South Col. We conclude our return trek at Gorak Shep.

Day 17. Trek to Pheriche (4,252m)

We are back going downhill as we retrace our steps to Duglha and descend to Pheriche, where we visit the Himalayan Rescue Association, a trekker’s health post, which is well worth a visit.

Day 18. Pick up by Helicopter and Fly Kathmandu

After a long, awesome and may be a bit tiring trek, we will leave the land of Everest by helicopter to Lukla, and then catch a flight to Kathmandu.

Day 19. Depart Kathmandu

Transfer to airport.
